Who We Are

The mission of The American Association of University Women (AAUW) is to advance equity for women and girls through advocacy, education, philanthropy, and research. The Greater Wayne Area (GWA) branch consistently strives to adhere to this mission within our community.
Since the organization’s founding in 1881, AAUW members have examined and taken positions on fundamental issues – whether they be educational, social, economic, and political.
As one of AAUW’s 1,000+ branches nationwide, GWA’s vision is to support the following objectives:
  • Advocate for public policies that advance equity for women and girls, on a local, state, and national level.
  • Close the gender wage gap through smart salary-negotiating techniques and fair pay public policies.
  • Encourage and support New Jersey girls entering science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) fields of study and occupation.
  • Provide financial assistance for women in the Greater Wayne Area to further pursue their educations.
